Khaleda’s treatment abroad: Home ministry sends application to law ministry

The application seeking permission to send BNP chief Khaleda Zia abroad for better treatment has reached law ministry.

Confirming the news, law minister Anisul Huq said the secretary at his ministry received the files regarding Khaleda’s treatment abroad from the home ministry at about 11:00pm on Wednesday.

“I’ll go through those and then give my opinion..,” he said.

 

BNP sources said that Khaleda Zia will be taken to abroad today if government permitted.

Earlier, Shamim Iskandar, younger brother of Khaleda Zia, handed an application to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

Later, talking to the press, the home minister said he sent the application to the law ministry for its opinion. Upon getting its view, the ministry will make the decision.

He further said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very considerate on such issues, and this request is being considered positively.

Having infected with coronavirus, the former prime minister is suffering from breathing and other complications.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is already convicted in two graft cases while many other criminal and corruption cases are pending with the court.

 

She is out of the jail following the government’s executive order which is extended.

Replying to a query, Anti-Corruption Commission counsel Md Khurshid Alam Khan told journalists that Khaleda Zia will need the court’s permission for going abroad.
